Welcome to Gahanna

A community-driven town known for lush greenery and scenic trails

Just eight miles away from downtown Columbus, Gahanna is a thriving suburban town. Gahanna’s community is very tight-knit, hosting a variety of neighborhood gatherings and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The name Gahanna is derived from the Native American word for “three creeks joining into one,” a testament to Gahanna’s location next to incredible creeks like the Big Walnut Creek.

There are all kinds of homes available in Gahanna, ranging from large estates, single-family homes, townhouses, and condominiums. Given Gahanna’s history dating back to 1849, many of the homes in this town have more traditional designs. They are inspired by the Colonial symmetry of windows and doors, as well as Tudor pitched roofs and decorative brickwork. Yet, Gahanna has modernized in the past couple of decades as well, so there are plenty of Contemporary-styled homes. Overall, you are bound to find the perfect home for you when exploring all that Gahanna has to offer.

Locals love to spend their mornings on a daily walk and take their children to nearby playgrounds. Nonetheless, there are also plenty of opportunities for city engagement since Columbus’s downtown is so close by.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Residents of Gahanna have the luxury of dining at incredibly upscale eateries. The Barn features a rustic interior befitting its rural name. More than a provincial eatery, The Barn flies in fresh seafood daily to supplement its charred steaks, pork, and chicken entrees. Even the desserts are baked fresh. The Barn’s weekday happy hours are a favorite among Columbus businesspeople; you can also find periodic events like wine tastings and brunch buffets here.

Another fantastic option for an upscale seafood restaurant is Mitchell’s Ocean Club, with over 50 wine options. It is a fabulous spot to grab drinks with coworkers or go on a romantic date while enjoying live piano music.

There are also several high-end chain eateries that locals of Gahanna enjoy visiting. Situated between Mill Street and Big Walnut Creek, Barrel & Boar is the town’s premier barbecue joint. Its Creekside location boasts one of the city’s most beautiful patios. The restaurant’s metier is smoked meats and Southern cuisine. In addition, J. Alexander’s Restaurant serves steak, burgers, and seafood in a refined manner. Its high-quality wood-fired cuisine will satisfy the hungriest of cravings. Thus, Gahanna has plenty of options for fine dining nearby.
